Object Map

Object Map has over 25 years experience in the Remote Metering Field, being wholly responsible for the development of another Prominent South African AMR System.

Object Map has been working with SDG Technologies from April 2008 to April 2025, developing the next generation of AMR product: called Plug and Play SCADA.

Plug and Play Scada is all about making AMR more accessible, more affordable, more powerful and more reliable. To do that, we had to design and develop a new AMR system from the ground up, but with the benefit of past experience.

We currently support over 124 different meter types, including through various RTUs, Pulse Counters, Data Concentrators etc. As of writing, in April 2025, we read more than one hundred and twenty thousand meters (120000+) every month with our software.

Plug and Play SCADA is very flexible. We're deployed internationally, not limited to a specific country. We are not limited to using any one meter or modem brand, having capacity to develop new protocols to fit into our generic meter model. We are compatible with many different APNs and different network topologies. Our servers can be deployed in the cloud or in your own infrastructure. Even our pricing structure supports monthly or evergreen payment models, depending on what makes sense for you. Being based on Linux, and accessible through a web interface (pure HTML 4.0), running on free and open source software, our system is easily scalable over many distributed servers without additional costs in operating system or database license costs. This scaleability is also simple, in the sense that every server is completely atomic, meaning that it is functional on its own, containing all necessary software for a complete functional system on every server.

Marinus van Zyl, Object Map's lead developer, is one of the original developers responsible for creating the prestigious South African SCADA package called Adroit, with many installations both locally and on all major continents and islands.

Marinus is also a SAP Certified Professional ABAP Developer, with 5 years experience in programming solutions in SAP-ABAP for various South African companies.
