Overview

Billing registers read correctly on Comcore meters, but only up to a certain number of registers. Above that limit the read fails.

What happens

The meters billing configuration is set in MeterTalk under ReadWrite -> Billing Configuration -> Monthly Billing Energy. The registers you add to the configurations list on the right are what the meter will store and report.

When the meter is programmed with 11 registers or fewer, PNPSCADA reads the billing registers without any problem.

When the meter is programmed with 12 or more registers, the read fails. The meter tells us it has more registers, but stops sending the list before it has sent them all, so we only receive part of it.

What to do

Keep the billing configuration at 11 registers or fewer when the meter is read directly.

If you need more registers than that, read the meter through the modem instead. On that connection the full list comes through and all the registers read correctly.

Note

This looks like a firmware issue on the meter and has been reported to Comcore. This page will be updated once we know more.
